Changing it up
Our Youth Pastors after 7 years are stepping down and
opening their own business. So February 11th is their last day at
Riverview. We are holding a Potluck for them after our second service. They
have been very loyal and hard workers. We all wish them the best and will
continue praying for them. If you would like to support them they are opening
an escape room in Kelso, WA called Puzzle Quest. You can look them up on
Facebook under the name Puzzle Quest Kelso, or their website http://www.puzzlequestllc.com/
For now our Head Pastor Rob will be stepping into the role till he finds the right fit for our Youth Group.
Youth Group January 17th
WE start our Youth group at 7 pm, doors open at 6:50. We
have snacks and just hangout time before starting. We had more kids than we
have had the last couple of weeks, so the games lasted longer.
Our Pastor Robbie Talked to them about the parable of seeds
being thrown on different soils. For those who don’t know the story this is the
jest of it. Seeds were thrown on different soils, some on the walkway, within
the thorns, some within the rocks, and the last thrown into the good soil. The
seeds thrown on the walkway the birds got to eat them. The ones thrown in the
thorns became chocked up and couldn’t grow. The Seeds thrown among the rocks
could grow, but couldn’t last. And the final seeds that made it to the good
soil, grew into great crops.
The kids were very engaged and really took in what he was
saying.

1st Prime Time of 2018
Before anything Prime Time started by talking about a trip
to Fort Vancouver. After that trip was settled they dived right into prayer.
Then they sang three Hymens, after each one they talked about different things
they could pray about, such as things going on with family or something good
that has happened.
After all of this the message portion of the day happened,
and to topic was sin, and what they thought sin consisted off.
Pastor Rob’s personal definition of sin is this: “Sin is
being and acting consciously aware of one’s existence outside of God.”
To end Prime Time at their tables they had prayer time,
going over the things that were brought up earlier in the morning. To end the
day they had a potluck.
Message verses:

Genesis 3:8-13

Ignite Youth Group January 3rd
Ignite Youth Group January 3rd, 2018
Our Family night started back up on January 3rd,
and our youth group may have been on the smaller side, but we were all having a
good time. Everyone got to play in the games, and we had two winners in our
raffle. One of our games was to see how many cookies someone could stack on
their head, the catch the cookies were Nilla Wafers. When it came time to worshiping the teens
were very into it and singing and dancing.
The message portion was a great one to start the New Year’s
off.
Most people set New Year’s resolutions or goals. So Pastor
Robbie talked about setting one goal: “Spending time with Jesus.”
When we set goals and not accomplish them than we feel bad
about ourselves and maybe even not bother with that goal anymore. But we should
make one goal, and that goal is to spend more time with Jesus. When we set this
goal it makes us want to read the Bible (instead of setting the goal to read
the Bible every day because sometimes we miss a day and not follow through), to
worship (since this brings us closer to Him), and even wanting to live holy.
This is all coming from setting one goal, spending time with Jesus.
The verses he used in his message were: Mark 10:16-22, and
Matthew 6:19-21
