NEW! Facebook Community Group

As many of you may know RiverView Community Church has a Facebook page, click here to view, however until this past week their was no group open to the general community of our church.
Our Facebook page is constantly updated and is a fantastic place to go for information, announcements, events, and photos. A downside to any Facebook Page however, is that it is more of a one sided conversation. Our church administrators update it and so you see what they see and hear. The great thing about having a Facebook Group is that anyone that joins the group can post status' and pictures. A Facebook Group allows for many different aspects of social media community that can't happen on a standard facebook page.
Due to everyone being able to post, prayer chains can begin immediately as prayer requests are posted and made  known by members of the group. Encouragement can come from seeing posts from group members about answered prayers and healing as well. This could also be a great place to share about any Christian groups or large events that are going on in the area that other members might like to attend. The possibility for community in this group is endless.
We hope you're all coming out for mid-week ministries to meet members of the church and make awesome, Christian friendships. Social media is not meant to be a replacement for that, however a facebook group is a great opportunity for you to connect on a large scale with the church body. Staff & Leadership Meetings

Our goal in these Staff & Leadership meetings is to encourage, build-up, refresh, and knit together the hearts of the leadership of the church. We share a meal and our lives with one another and then break out into worship, prayer, and any necessary planning. Staff and leadership meetings are open to all current staff and leadership members of the church along with anyone who is interested in volunteering in a leadership capacity in one of the church ministries. These meetings will be on one of the first Friday's of the month, keep your eyes on the church calendar and the church announcements for updates of when meetings are. Our next meeting is Friday, February 6th, at 6:00pm at the church.

And the Seahawks are headed to the Super Bowl! Men welcome to the church Saturday, January 31st at 1:00. We'll spend the day hanging out, talking God & Football, and eating Spaghetti dinner with one another. Then, Super Bowl Sunday, grab the whole family and stick around after 2nd service to watch the Patriots/Seahawks game with us. Additional Classrooms Coming Soon

Our offer was accepted on this 12'x60' Single-wide!!! We're already outgrowing our building, looking at our calendar you see that we have something going on every day of the week, most days have multiple ministries. This building will help us add additional space. Our goal is to have an office and 2 extra classrooms.
Before we can meet here though, we'll have a little bit of fix-up work to do (painting, carpeting, electrical, building, etc.). We'll take all the help we can get in order to get this space useable as soon as possible. If you're interested in helping, keep your eyes on Facebook and on our Church Announcements for our Work Days. This is a relatively small project, we're hoping to bust it out pretty quickly.

Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain

We had a fantastic time celebrating our 6th year in this community with the people that make this new building a church. A huge thank you to Becky Neuschwander for preparing the meal, Karen Hauser for planning the evening and making all the beautiful decorations, Robbie Neal for the awesome video, and all of the church members who helped set up and tear down. We're looking forward to many more years serving Kalama and the surrounding areas.

Children's Ministry Volunteers Needed

The children's ministry desperately needs volunteers. If you have experience with children or have children that benefit from the Children's ministries being available, please consider signing up to help in one of the rooms. We have teen volunteers that help during 1st service, but we're looking for an adult volunteer for each room during 1st service and 2 adult volunteers for each room during 2nd service. We have the nursery for babies that cannot yet walk, we have a Pre-K room for all children walking age through Kindergarten, and we have a 1st-5th grade classroom. Volunteers don't have to commit to every week, it can be a once a month or even once every other month commitment, we just need volunteers to step up and help teach these children about the love of Christ. Volunteers can contact Reyna Burkett (360-909-3371) or fill out our Online Volunteer Form.

Coming Soon...Prime Time!

We are getting really excited for this new study starting up in 2015. Must be 55 or older to attend. Studies will be on Thursday mornings at 11:00. The first Prime Time begins on Thursday, Januarry 22nd. It's going to be a fun time so be sure not to miss it!

Girl's Night

Ignite Club is a great opportunity for teenagers to play organized games, worship, and get to hear about Christ, but there's not a whole lot of extra hang out time other than a few minutes before and after club. So, Karissa Neal is starting up a Girl's Night on the 2nd and 4th Friday's on the month as an opportunity for girl's ages 13-18 to get together and just hang out with one another and get to know each other. Each Girl's Night will have a main thing to do for entertainment and a main snack item to bring along but their won't have any schedule for the evening. For the first Girl's Night this Friday, January 9th, they'll be multiple "Just Dance" games and the Wii will be hooked up to the main screen in the sanctuary to play "Just Dance", some other board games, and the girls will eat ice cream together. Karissa is asking each girl to please bring a container of their favorite Ice Cream to share with the group.

Upcoming Men's Events

The men have a lot of exciting events coming up in early 2015. We've listed a few below to be looking forward to.
The Men's SUPER Weekend will be the weekend of January 31st-February 1st and will be all about getting some time to hang out and eat with other guys of the church. On Saturday, men are welcome to arrive to the church around 1:00pm and Spaghetti will be served that evening for dinner. The next morning is church and then following church, we will have the Superbowl game up on the big screen. Please bring a dish to share with the men as we watch the game.

In February, we have our 2nd Annual Chili Cook-Off. Last year's event had a large turnout and was a fun evening full of laughter, chili eating, and competition. Prizes this year will be awarded for the mildest chili, the hottest chili, and the best all around chili. Join us at 6:00pm on February 7th for our Chili Cook-Off.
In March, we will be going on our annual Snowshoeing Trip again as well. Cost is still TBA but is normally just the cost of a snowshoe rental. Be sure to mark down March 7th in your calendar as this is always a fun day together.

We will have many other events coming up throughout the year. In the meantime, if you're looking for more men's fellowship, be sure to join us on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm at Nathan Burck's home as we study the life of Joseph. All men ages 18 and up welcome.
